Mackenzie O’Toole
Color Guard Caption Head
Mackenzie O’Toole has been a part of the marching arts activity for close to a decade, and has been spinning for 9 years. She started off on clarinet, before eventually making the permanent switch over to colorguard. Her spinning career has brought her to several organizations such as the Sun Devil Marching Band, Fenix Independent Winterguard, and Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. She has also instructed at various schools and ensembles such as Mountain Pointe HS, McClintock HS, Gilbert HS, Perry HS, and the Phenom Drum and Bugle Corps. Mackenzie has held the Colorguard Caption Head position with Perry for two years now, and is very eager to for what her third year will hold!
David Roybal
Color Guard Instructor
David Roybal is a color guard technician and choreographer based out of Phoenix, Arizona. As a performer, David proudly represented the state of Arizona in the Arizona State University Marching Band for 4 years and in FeniX Independent for 8 years. He also had the privilege of marching with Gold Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2018 and 2019.
Since his ageout in 2019, David has worked with multiple high schools in the Phoenix-Metro area, Arizona State University’s color guard, FeniX Independent, and this will be his 3rd year with the Puma Regiment.
David graduated ASU with degrees in Psychology and Criminology and works with the Maricopa County Superior Court. He currently resides near Downtown Phoenix with his partner Wesley and their two cats, Kacey and Oliver.
Jacob Zimpfer
Color Guard Instructor
Jacob Zimpfer has been involved in the Color Guard activity since 2014. Starting off his career at Corona del Sol HS in Tempe, Arizona, he then grew to perform with world-renowned ensembles such as the Santa Clara Vanguard, FeniX Independent, and the Sun Devil Marching Band. In his coaching career, he has gotten the opportunity to work with many groups, including Gilbert HS, Campo Verde HS, FeniX Independent, and now with Perry HS for 3 years. Outside of Color Guard, Jacob is looking to pursue a career in behavioral health and is eager to inspire and empower all individuals that he meets. He looks forward to spending another year with the Perry Pumas.
Paige Walker
Wind Instrumentalist Instructor
Paige Walker is a third-year deans list scholar at Arizona State University studying degrees in Music Learning and Teaching, Music Theory and Composition, and a minor in the Spanish Language. Paige has been a member of the Sun Devil Marching Band, is a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, and has been a part of the music world for close to a decade. Primarily a saxophone player, Paige has performed in places such as Carnegie Hall and Viennas Musikverien, and studies currently under Dr. Christopher Creviston. Paige researches the utilization of Music Cognition within Music Education, and is preparing an undergraduate thesis on the passion to be defended in 2025. Outside of teaching, Paige is also a cashier at Chipotle, and enjoys birdwatching, especially in her home state of Michigan.
Ethan Nolan
Brass and Visual Instructor
Ethan Nolan has been participating in the marching arts for eight years, and is still actively marching while teaching. He started teaching as soon as he graduated from Campo Verde High School in 2022, and is excited to see where it takes him. He primarily plays the Euphonium and has been for over ten years now, and plays a variety of other instruments such as trombone, percussion and piano. Ethan is looking towards his fourth season with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps this summer, and currently studying music education at Arizona State University.
Spencer Mueller
Percussion Caption Head
Spencer Mueller is an active performer and educator throughout Arizona with a deep and varied percussion background. After moving from his hometown in Jacksonville, Florida, he has been involved in numerous organizations and ensembles of both independent and collegiate affiliation. Having performed in styles ranging from marching percussion to orchestral, pop and rock drum set, Latin and North American jazz, hand drumming, theatrical percussion, and many others, Spencer has a large amount of real-world percussion experience that he brings to bear as both an educator and a musician.
Spencer has performed with marching ensembles such as Flux Indoor Percussion, The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, The Arizona State University Sun Devil Marching Band, and Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps. In addition, he has played with multiple collegiate ensembles including the Arizona State Wind Symphony, where he was principal percussionist, as well as the Arizona State Wind Ensemble, ASU Contemporary Percussion Ensemble, ASU Studio Percussion, Mesa Community College Wind Band, MCC Latin Jazz Band, and others. As an independent musician, he has also played with multiple different organizations as a hired performer, both for orchestral and drum set. During his performance career, he has premiered multiple pieces both regionally and nationally, and has performed at multiple showcase events including the CBDNA Western Conference and the Las Vegas Bowl.
As an educator, Spencer is active all over the valley, giving clinics, private lessons, and large scale instruction. He currently gives private percussion lessons at Milano Music. In addition, he is an instructor with Breakthrough Indoor Percussion, who under his instruction have been a finalist in the national competitive indoor percussion circuit. He also serves as the percussion caption head at Perry High School, and during his time there has helped facilitate record-breaking results with both circuit championship victories and undefeated high percussion seasons.
In his spare time, Spencer continues earning his degree in Music Education from Arizona State University, and enjoys hobbies including gigging, writing music, and working on his car, as well as the never-ending pursuit of refining his craft.
Ben Falkner
Percussion Instructor
Ben Falkner is a Perry High School alumnus who has been involved in the marching arts for nearly a decade. After being a member of both the marching band and the Perry indoor percussion ensemble all throughout high school, he went on to march bass drum with the Sun Devil Marching Band for 4 years, the last two of which he was the bass drum section leader. He also marched with Flux Indoor Percussion playing marimba in a 2021 small ensemble duet, timpani in the main 2021 production, vibraphone in the main 2022 production, and marching bass in the main 2023 production. He then went on to March bass drum at Breakthrough Indoor Percussion for their 2024 and 2025 productions. Alongside his independent marching career he taught as a percussion instructor at Coolidge High School, Maricopa High School, Shadow Mountain High School, and Perry High School. He has been with this organization since the very beginning of his marching career and is looking forward to continuing to grow the program!
Max Waite
Percussion Instructor
Max Waite has been involved with marching percussion since 2011. Max graduated from Scottsdale Community College with a degree in Music Performance. He began teaching the year after graduating high school, and has taught since. Max has marched for Phenom and Vision Indoor Percussion.
